Not to worry readers, I am still running! It is less than 3 weeks now and I am getting excited! Today I ran the full distance 13.1. Trying to decide what bottoms to wear, shorts or running skirt. I am leaning towards the skirt. All my shorts while short enough , are on the over baggy side and sometimes they itch my legs, which is annoying. I am also considering making a special playlist of music…..
Anyways, I need to borrow these guys and gals. My lawn is looking more like a prairie.
Today I ran the same long run I did last week only added a mile, for a total of 12 miles. If I rrun in the race like I idid today I will finish in a time just over 2 hours. I am pretty sure though I can shave a couple minutes off as I held back a little today. My biggest problem are my slow lazy starts. I just want to loaf for my first few miles. My fastest miles are after I have run about 5. Maybe if I can just loaf for say, 2 miles instead.
Ran 3 miles. Legs feel tired. Good thing I won’t be running tomorrow. I only run 5 days a week. I must have those 2 days off. That is the one thing I can say aging affects, the body’s ability to recover. Here is a case where my mistake picture looks better than the intended! Haha!
Today I opted to take my speed workout to the track. My way of celebrating and paying homage to a couple Olympic track stories that really caught my heart. One was the spectacular manner in which the US women’s 4 x100 relay team kicked butt. They set a new world record and overcame all the relay blunders that have plagued the teams in the last few Olympics. THe second story was an absolutely heart wrenching one involving Morgan Uceny, a medal contender for the 1500m. During the bell lap, she was tripped and fell onto the track, where she stayed, and sobbed, and sobbed, and sobbed. The same thing had happened to her last year during the world championship as well. Oh and did I mention it was on the same date as Mary Decker’s fall in the 1984 games????
I did run yesterday, 5miles….
